SynBio & BioPrinting: From CyberSpace to MeatSpace
An artist talk introducing my practice and an ongoing project on synthetic biological intelligence.
Layer:14 is an open-ended, speculative project aimed at exploring the psychological evolution of synthetic biology while interfacing with internet subcultures. Inspired by the emerging field of synthetic biological intelligence, the project seeks to forecast the trajectory of technological acceleration in biocomputing and its impact on the human psyche.
In this talk, I will focus on the development of the project as a self-taught tinkerer. I will discuss my process for creating an inexpensive, compact, and accessible 3D bioprinter conversion for an Ender 3, which I am now using to print sculptures made of hydrogels. Additionally, I will touch upon my attempts to fabricate microfluidic devices and microelectrode arrays.
- This is a free event
- The talk will be in English
- Join us in-person at BioClub Tokyo or online at the BioClub Zoom
